Salsa/Latin 103

Beginning 11 March 2010, Darrell is teaching Salsa/Latin 103! This eight-week class is designed for dancers who have already completed one of our 101 classes, or dancers who have completed or are presently enrolled in one of the classes that Darrell teaches for UW Continuing Studies.

In this class, we will build upon your knowledge of Cuddles and Hammerlocks to develop even more creative and exciting Salsa moves! We will also specifically cover two additional dances – Cha Cha and Bolero. Learn some great moves to go out dancing at one of Madison’s great Salsa clubs!

Friday, 12 March 2010 Sarah is the instructor for the pre-dance Swing lessons at the Cysitic Fibrosis Benefit Dance, organized by UWMBDA – the UW Madison Ballroom Dance Association.

USA Dance

We are making great progress in the creation of an officially-recognized Madison chapter of USA Dance. Our next task is to finalize the members of the Steering Committee (volunteers – let us know by Contacting Sarah or by Leaving a Comment), followed by planning an icebreaker Social Dance.

Volunteers who contacted us have already received (or will soon) their invitation to the USA Dance Madison Formation Wiki, an online multi-user collaborative environment designed for rapid sharing of information among the Steering Committee and other interested parties.

We are helping to start something important for many dancers who are looking for a welcoming dance environment that does not involve going to a bar – a place for you to dance with your peers. Will you help?

Private Lessons provide focused, individualized dance instruction for you or you and a partner. Your instructor will help you unlock your natural potential so you can dance to your full ability!

If you are new to dancing, private lessons are great for rapidly gaining confidence on the dance floor. So many of our students have been asking us why Madison lacks a ballroom dance scene specifically for adults. There are plenty of night clubs and excellent specialty organizations, but there is no general-purpose ballroom dancing club.

In response, Sarah and Darrell are using their influence to help organize a New Amateur Ballroom Dance Chapter in Madison, which will become a chapter of USA Dance. USA Dance (formerly USABDA) is the national body that oversees amateur ballroom dancing in the United States.

Sarah has prepared a Page on our website with more information. We need a core group of at least 25 people who are interested! Are you?
