UWMBDA dances are a great opportunity to put all of your new dance moves to use! They are open to both students and non-students, and play a mix of music that will include salsa, merengue, rumba, cha cha, waltz, fox trot, tango, swing, and many others!

Dress for UWMBDA dances is casual–jeans and a T-shirt are normal. Please bring non-street shoes to dance in!

Doors for the 4th Saturday dance open at 6:45 PM with the lesson starting at 7:00 PM. This December, Art of Dance’s owner, Darrell Dieringer, will be teaching a Rumba lesson at 7:00! The 4th Saturday dance is held every month. In addition we have one or two dance mixers as part of the evenings schedule.

Due to a construction at the Belvidere Community Center, the USA Dance 4th Saturday dance is moving, (for several months, most likely). They have been able to arrange the use of the Northeast Branch of the YMCA in Loves Park. It is located just north of Rockford, and near the Indoor Sports Center off of Riverside Ave. It only takes about an hour & fifteen minutes to get there from Madison, and it is well worth the journey!

I have been to the dance in Belvidere many times and enjoy it for not only its beautiful venue but for the energy, enthusiasm, and welcoming environment provided by the many people who attend. I usually expect to see over 100 people at the dance!

Every Wednesday, “do lunch” a different way! We will meet for one hour on Wednesdays between 4 November and 16 December.

Have some fun during your work / school week with a hot Latin dance class designed for all experience levels! Pre-enrollment or advance registration is not necessary…but can save you money!

Learn energetic and sensual Latin dances like Salsa, Merengue, Rumba, Mambo, Cha Cha, Argentine Tango, and Bolero.

Before each class, we decide as a group what we would like to work on that day. The focus is always on having fun!

Bring your friends from school, the office, or job site. Spend some quality time with your favorite colleagues outside of work. Meet new people!

Please, no Street Shoes on the dance floor. Dance shoes, practice shoes, dance sneakers, or stocking feet are all fine.

AoD students: This is a great place to go and practice what we’ve been working on for the past few weeks…yes, you do know enough! I have been to the dance in Belvidere many times and enjoy it for not only its beautiful venue but for the energy, enthusiasm, and welcoming environment provided by the many people who attend. I usually expect to see over 100 people at the dance!

Belvidere is only a few tolls into IL, just past the familiar “Belvidere Oasis” freeway overpass convenience station. It only takes about an hour & fifteen minutes to get there from Madison, and it is well worth the journey!

$5 cover, 21+

There is a heavier emphasis on salsa and partner dancing from about 10:30 – 12:30. After that, there is more reggaeton and nightclub dancing. It is also a bar, so make sure you don’t wear your good shoes! There is a dress code–please contact Frida’s for more information.

Milwaukee band with 6 members. One of Wisconsin and the Midwest’s longest running band that has delighted audiences at festivals and on the concert and night club circuit. Popular with Dane Dances attendees. A great blend of jazz, pop, R&B.

Primitive Culture 6-7:30 pm
Unique blend of Funk, Blues, and Tropical rhythms that warms the soul and moves the feet. 5 member local band, 2007 MAMAS artist of the year award. Longstanding band members have toured with music greats such as Elton John, Pointer Sisters, Ike and Tina Turner, W.C.Clarke and the Reunion Band and Dr. John.

BBI 8-9:30 pm
A versatile band of 6 members, plays anything from the 50’s to today. Danceable Motown, R&B, Classic Rock and dance hits. Illinois band that plays at the Dells area, members have recorded and toured Australia and New Zealand with groups such as Procession and Manfred Mann Chapter III. Received very favorable reviews when they played Dane Dances in 2007 & audience has asked to have them back again.

Altered Five 6-7:30 pm
Founded in 2002 by five Southern Wisconsin music veterans, Altered Five has built a solid reputation for performing an exciting brand of “rockin’ rhythm ’n’ blues.” The group performs funky, danceable versions of popular rock songs from the 1970s to today.

In Black ‘N White 8-9:30 pm
In Black ‘n White has entertained throughout the midwest including regular performances at Summerfest (Milwaukee, WI), African World Festival (Milwaukee, WI), Navy pier (Chicago, Il) and Farm Aid. Sharing the stage with such acts as Maxi Priest, Steel Pulse, Kool and the Gang, Inner Circle, Lucky Dube and Ringo Starr, In Black ‘n White continues to bring crowds to their fee.

Christopher’s Project 6-7:30 pm
Rhythm and blues and contemporary jazz dancing. The group has opened for national and legendary acts as diverse as the Temptations, George Benson, David Sanborn, The Supremes and Jennifer Holiday. The group’s best asset is its ability to perform a wide variety of music for a wide age group.

Grupo Candela 8-9:30 pm
From salsa to merengue to bachata. 12 member band boasts impressive roots in the local music performance and educational scenes. Members are trained and talented musicians and have played in other groups and entities including Madison Symphony Orchestra, Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, and in locations throughout US, Latin America and Europe.
