Sarah Calhoun

Sarah Calhoun

Sarah brings seven years of dancing and her cross training in martial arts to the Art of Dance school. Her passion for expressive dancing and exciting choreography makes her a powerhouse teacher.

Originally from a small town in Massachusetts, Sarah moved to Minnesota for college. In 2000, while still in school, she began taking ballroom and swing dance lessons.

She continued dancing through many more moves across the country and the world. In 2003, she settled in Madison in order to pursue a PhD at UW-Madison in Languages and Cultures of Asia.

In the process of doing this, she met her professional dance partner, Darrell Dieringer, at a social dance. They currently compete in American Style Rhythm.

In addition to her University work and competition training, Sarah also teaches ballroom classes around Madison. With a background in musical theater, Tae Kwon Do, and yoga, Sarah has a passion for expressive dancing and exciting choreography.

While she enjoys many styles of dance, Sarah can never turn down a good West Coast Swing!

With her professional partner Darrell Dieringer (owner of the Art of Dance ballroom dance studio), expect a lot of high-level dancing and competition choreography.
