Carpool Leaves From:
The Dutch Mill Park and Ride Lot ( map ) – Stoughton Road and the Beltline in Madison, next to the Arby’s.
Revised Carpool Departure Time: 9:30am sharp.
Be there early and meet at the bus shelter so we can find everyone!

The Day
The Wisconsin State Dancesport Championships – held each April in Milwaukee – is the biggest competition in the Midwest (next to the Ohio Star Ball). It happens April 13-17 (Wed/Sun) at the Pfister Hotel in downtown Milwaukee.
Come watch the daytime events with us on Saturday, 16 April 2011. See Session 6 – Saturday Matinee.
Our Madison delegation will carpool from the Stoughton Road/Beltline park and ride lot, leaving at 8:30am 9:30am sharp. Please bring gas money for drivers, admission money (keep reading), and cash for eating as well as for shopping at the competition.
Email Darrell so I can keep track of whom to expect!
The Saturday daytime events are exclusively amateur events (dance students dancing with each other) and pro/am events (dance students dancing with their teachers).
You will see multiple skill levels (from new dancer through Open Gold) in International Standard in the morning and International Latin in the Afternoon.
Saturday day is $20/person, and is good from ~8am to ~4pm (when the amateur events are finished). Our Madison delegation will arrive at the competition around 10am 11am (due to revised departure time). See Tickets for prices for other days.
Our delegation is only planning to attend the daytime events, followed by Dinner – see below.
What to wear: Please dress up a little – Khakis and a clean shirt. Not terribly dressy, but a step up from the average pedestrian.
The Evening
The competition will continue without us – the ballroom is emptied so it can be set up for the evening banquet and professional competitive events.
Saturday night is almost entirely sold out – some reserved floor seats are still available, and standing room only tickets are available for $35/person and go on sale one hour before the doors open Saturday night. It is definitely worth it!
Ballroom dance competitions are a sensory experience that words and pictures cannot do adequate justice. They are very exciting events!
Dinner Instead
Our group has reservations at an exciting downtown Milwaukee restaurant. Which one? It’s a surprise! However, I will tell you that it has been featured on the Travel Channel. Meals are affordable (~$10-$17) and the atmosphere is almost impossible to describe.
Please Email Darrell so I know to expect you.
To participate in any available carpool, caravan, or other accommodations (if offered), you must register in advance. RSVP to Road Trips.
