Take your dancing one the road and show the judges what you can do!
In this first year of the Summer Twilight Ballroom Showcase & Competition, students of dance compete with each other (amateur entries) or their teachers (professional/amateur aka pro/am entries) in either solo (choreographed) or freestyle (not choreographed) dances.

This is the first year the studio will participate in this fun amateur and pro/am competition!
All events will occur on Sunday, 8 August, 2010.
10:00am – 12:00pm – Solo Routines, International Standard
Noon – 1:00pm – Lunch & General Dancing
1:00 – 4:00pm – American Smooth, American Rhythm, International Latin
4:00pm & 5:00pm – Dance Workshops
6:00pm – Dinner
7:00 – 10:00pm – General Dancing and Professional Show
You may have solo and freestyle entries in any of the following dances. Assume American Style unless you would rather compete in International Style.
Smooth
Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz
Rhythm
Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing, Bolero, Mambo
Nightclub / Other
Salsa, Merengue, Hustle, West Coast Swing, Nightclub Two-Step
No lifts or drops allowed in any freestyle or multi-dance events. They are only allowed in Solo Exhibition dance events.
No choreographed routines are allowed in any closed freestyle or multi-dance event.
Only cocktail dresses are allowed for ladies, unless you are dancing Gold or higher in which you can wear either a cocktail dress or a ballroom gown. Ballroom gowns are also acceptable for solos. Ballroom costumes or dress slacks, shirt with tie and vest are allowed for men.
An amateur couple’s dance level must be based on the Lead’s knowledge and ability, and the age category of the youngest of the two dancers.
Couples will be judged on the following: Lead and Following, Posture, Floor Craft, Creativity, Musicality, Originality, and Technique.
